Udaipur boy’s Swachhta painting among India’s top 3

‘Will be felicitated by the PM on Gandhi Jayanti in New Delhi’

Udaipur : Kapil Meena, a fifth grader hailing from a non descript village from a tribal block of Udaipur has made it big. The boy’s painting on Swachh Bharat theme has been selected among top three paintings in the category and he would be felicitated by the Prime Minister himself on October 2 in a function at New Delhi. The All India level painting competion was held at every school under the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan on September 6 for students of class 1 to 5 with the theme being ‘Clean India of my dreams’. Kapil’s painting earned the first prize in the district and later at state level. The entry recieved wide appreciation at the national level and hence was chosen among the best 3 painting in the country on the Swachh Bharat.

Modi in a recent tweet wrote “ Through this prize winning painting Kapil Meena from Udaipur showcases how public participation can result in a clean village”. Since the annoncement, Kapil have been showered by felicitations and rewards from authorities and organizations. Collector BishnuCharan Mallick, Zila Parishad CEO Avichal Chaturvedi felicitated the boy in their chambers repectively. “ In my painting I have depicted a child doing plantation work while few villagers are engaged in cleaning the area. There are hills, green trees and a river flowing in between the village. There is a dustbin outside a house” Kapil told Udaipur Kiran.

“ People are healthy and happy in the painting because there is cleanliness around and this is India of my dreams” the boy said wearing a confident smile. Kapil’s teachers too claim the boy to be a bright and active student. “ He is very particular on sanitation and takes keen interest in voluntary works organized by the school. He comes to school in a neat and tidy uniform everyday and though being a kid himself advices and inspires other children to remain clean” Sangita Goswami, his class teacher says.
