Udaipur: In response to a formal complaint by Member of Parliament Dr. Mannalal Rawat, the Rajasthan government has ordered a probe into the financial irregularities within the Udaipur Development Authority (UDA). The state’s Finance Department (Audit Section) has directed the Director of the Local Fund Audit Department to initiate an inquiry, with a report to be submitted within 30 days.

The move comes after MP Dr. Rawat wrote detailed letters to Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and Urban Development & Local Self-Government Minister, urging a thorough audit of the UDA accounts for the financial years 2022–2024. The seriousness of the issue has led both top leaders to take immediate action.
According to Dr. Rawat, the preliminary test audit uncovered irregularities amounting to ₹1,000 crore, though this was based on limited sampling and time-bound scrutiny. He emphasized that a comprehensive special audit covering the entire period could reveal misappropriation worth several thousand crores.
As per the letter, two former officials of UDA—Nitendra Pal Singh and Rajesh Joshi—have already been suspended over their involvement. Additionally, six other officers have also been found accountable in the initial audit report.
Joint Secretary Bhawani Singh Meena from the Finance Department has officially directed a full-fledged audit and instructed that the findings be submitted promptly.
Dr. Rawat cited the precedent set by the special audit conducted into financial misconduct within the Nathdwara Municipality, urging that a similar audit be undertaken for the UDA case to ensure transparency and accountability.
