‘Threads of Her Life’ Exhibition Opens at City Palace Museum in Udaipur
Udaipur, October 14, 2026: The City Palace Museum in Udaipur has opened the ‘Threads of Her Life’ exhibition, bringing together the artistic traditions of Mewar’s tribal women and the creative expressions of contemporary women artists. Organised under the aegis of the Maharana Mewar Charitable Foundation, the exhibition will be held at Chhota Darikhana from October 14 to November 30, 2026.

The exhibition highlights women’s artistic traditions, life experiences and creative contributions, presenting a dialogue between cultural heritage and contemporary art.
Dr. Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar said the exhibition celebrates women’s art, creativity and contribution to preserving and promoting Mewar’s living cultural heritage. He added that the foundation remains committed to encouraging education and supporting platforms that recognise women’s talent.
He said such initiatives aim to empower young women to fulfil their aspirations, remain connected to their cultural roots and make meaningful contributions to Mewar’s future.
Traditional Art Forms and Contemporary Expressions
Dr. Mayank Gupta, Chief Executive Officer of the foundation, said the title ‘Threads of Her Life’ symbolises the relationships, experiences and traditions that shape women’s lives and pass from one generation to the next.
The exhibition showcases traditional tribal textiles, embroidery and Mandana art to portray women’s daily lives, rituals, connection with nature and community knowledge.
Initiatives by organisations such as Shikshantar and Kamli Tribe highlight opportunities to connect traditional skills with new avenues. The works of Dimple Chandat and Chandrika Parmar offer contemporary perspectives on Mandana art.
Tanya Sharma’s work explores the changing identity, freedom and aspirations of modern women. Seep Chaplot’s work highlights women’s urban experiences in the context of Udaipur and Lake Pichola.
Celebrating Mewar’s Cultural Heritage
The exhibition continues the Maharana Mewar Charitable Foundation’s legacy of cultural preservation, which dates back to its establishment in 1969. It seeks to create a dialogue between heritage and modernity while recognising women’s artistic skills, knowledge, care and creative contributions.
By bringing traditional practices and contemporary artistic perspectives together, ‘Threads of Her Life’ highlights the important role women play in shaping Mewar’s vibrant cultural identity.
