Tata Safari EV Expected to Launch in January with Powerful Battery Options

Mumbai, October 29: Tata Motors is gearing up to launch its highly anticipated Safari EV in January 2027. This new electric vehicle is expected to be the company’s most powerful offering yet, competing directly with Mahindra’s XEV 9S and the recently launched MG Hector Tomahawk EV.
While specific details about the Safari EV’s specifications are yet to be revealed, it is believed to be built on the Acti.ev+ platform, which also supports the Harrier EV. Reports suggest that the Safari EV may feature a large 80 kWh battery pack, which would provide the highest range among Tata’s electric vehicles.
The current 75 kWh battery pack offers a range of 627 km on a single charge for the rear-wheel-drive (RWD) variant, while the all-wheel-drive (AWD) version has a range of 622 km. The introduction of the 80 kWh battery pack could enhance its performance, making it suitable for long-distance travel.
In terms of design, the Safari EV is expected to include several EV-specific features such as a closed grille, aerodynamically optimized alloy wheels, and updated lighting setups. The interior may retain many features from its internal combustion engine (ICE) counterpart, including a triple-screen layout, ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, and advanced safety features.
With Tata Motors holding a significant 40% market share in the electric four-wheeler segment, the Safari EV is set to further strengthen its position in the growing electric vehicle market in India.
