New Delhi, June 19 (Udaipur Kiran) – Bangladesh fast bowler Tanzim Hasan Sakib has been fined 15 percent of his match fee and received one demerit point for violating Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 Group D match against Nepal.
The incident occurred on Sunday at Arnos Vale Ground in Kingstown. In the third over of Nepal’s innings, after delivering a ball, Tanzim approached batsman Rohit Paudel aggressively and made inappropriate physical contact. This is Tanzim’s first offense within a 24-month period.
Tanzim was found guilty of breaching Article 2.12 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which relates to inappropriate physical contact with a player, player support personnel, umpire, match referee, or any other person (including a spectator) during an international match.
The charge was leveled by on-field umpires Ahsan Raza and Sam Nogajski, with support from third umpire Jayeraman Madanagopal and fourth umpire Kumar Dharmasena. Tanzim accepted the offense and the sanction proposed by match referee Richie Richardson, thus avoiding the need for a formal hearing.
