Mumbai (Udaipur Kiran): Bollywood star and former Miss Universe Sushmita Sen celebrates her 50th birthday on 19 November, continuing to live life on her own terms. Known for breaking stereotypes, she remains single even at this stage of life, and says she feels complete without marriage.
Sushmita made a bold decision at the age of 24 when she adopted her first daughter Renee, later welcoming her second daughter Alisah in 2010. She has often spoken openly about being a single mother and why marriage has never been a necessity for her.
In an interview given in 2023, Sushmita said that freedom is the most important part of her life. “I am a free person. I do everything from my heart, not because someone expects it from me,” she shared. Explaining her single status, she said, “I am single because I haven’t met anyone yet with whom I would want to spend my life. There is no lack of love — my two beautiful children give me all the emotional fulfilment I need.”
She added that she has raised both her daughters independently and doesn’t feel anything missing in her life. “I listen to everyone, but I do what I want to do. That is why I am able to live life on my own terms,” she said.
