Support for PM Modis Call Grows, Says R. Ashok

Bengaluru, May 13: Karnataka’s Leader of the Opposition and senior BJP leader R. Ashok stated on Wednesday that citizens are responding positively to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal for fuel conservation and reducing the use of petroleum products, as well as avoiding unnecessary purchases of gold.

Speaking to reporters at the BJP’s state office, Jagannath Bhavan, in Bengaluru, Ashok mentioned that he and his family are also adhering to the Prime Minister’s call.

“We are reducing the use of petrol and diesel in our vehicles by 30 to 50 percent. Security vehicles will only be used in unavoidable circumstances,” he said.

Ashok noted that global conflicts have created challenging situations worldwide and emphasized that the public is well-accepting of the Prime Minister’s appeal.

In response to a question, he added that he has instructed his family members to minimize the use of cooking oil at home.

He further stated that central ministers and officials have begun responding to the Prime Minister’s appeal by adopting public transport systems like the metro.

BJP MLC and Chief Whip of the Opposition N. Ravi Kumar urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar to stop opposing the suggestions made by Prime Minister Modi for the country’s benefit.

Ravi Kumar, while speaking to reporters, mentioned that several companies are considering arrangements for employees to work from home three days a week in response to the Prime Minister’s appeal.

He criticized senior Congress leader B.K. Hariprasad, labeling his comments as irresponsible. “Experienced politicians like Congress MLC B.K. Hariprasad are making childish and extremely frivolous statements. There’s no point in responding to their remarks,” he said.

Ravi Kumar reiterated that Prime Minister Modi has urged people to reduce the consumption of petroleum products and cooking gas, limit gold purchases for a year (unless absolutely necessary), and utilize public transport systems.

“Our intention is not to trouble people. The ongoing war is affecting the supply of petroleum products and gas, and despite discussions, the conflict is not ending,” he added.

He claimed that both the public and governments are positively responding to the Prime Minister’s appeal.

He accused Rahul Gandhi and the Congress party of opposing this initiative simply because they are accustomed to criticizing and opposing the central government.

Ravi Kumar emphasized that the Prime Minister’s appeal should be welcomed as it aims to protect the country’s economy, employment opportunities, and foreign exchange reserves.

He urged, “People should support this call.”

Ravi Kumar also referenced an incident in Akola, alleging that BJP worker Nagaraj Nayak was being harassed and called for action against Gopalakrishna Nayak for attempting to attack him.

“Nagaraj Nayak has been on a sit-in and satyagraha for the past week and has demanded police protection for the BJP worker,” he stated.
