The attack took place on Saturday, when a large number of people were shopping in the open market. Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos and panic as gunfire erupted, forcing civilians to flee for safety.

Government officials have strongly condemned the attack, with Sudanese government spokesperson Khalid Al-Aleisir stating that the dead include women and children. He called the incident a severe humanitarian crisis and highlighted the massive destruction to both public and private properties.

“This criminal act adds to the bloody record of this militia. It is a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law,” Al-Aleisir said in an official statement.

Global Condemnation and Calls for Justice

The United Nations and several human rights organizations have expressed deep concern over the attack, calling for an immediate investigation. The International Criminal Court (ICC) has also stated that it is examining potential war crimes and crimes against humanity linked to the RSF’s actions.

Rising Instability in Sudan

This attack is yet another escalation in the ongoing conflict between Sudan’s military and the RSF, which has plunged the nation into further turmoil. As tensions continue to rise, humanitarian groups are warning of an increasingly dire situation for civilians caught in the crossfire.
