Jaipur, May 6, 2026 (Udaipur Kiran): The first week of May has brought relief from intense heat in Rajasthan, with storm and rain activity continuing across several districts. On Tuesday, rainfall in Udaipur division led to a drop of 2 to 3 degrees in temperature.

Except for two cities, maximum temperatures in the rest of the state remained below 40°C. Barmer recorded the highest temperature. The Meteorological Centre in Jaipur has issued a yellow alert for storm and rain in seven districts on May 6 and 7.
Weather in the last 24 hours: North-western and north-eastern districts witnessed clear weather and sunshine during the day. However, due to light winds and moisture in the atmosphere, cities including Bikaner, Churu, Ganganagar, Phalodi, Jodhpur and Jaisalmer recorded a decline in maximum temperatures.
Afternoon weather change: Weather conditions shifted in several districts after noon. Barmer, Pali, Udaipur, Rajsamand, Sirohi and Bhilwara experienced dense cloud cover, strong winds and rainfall in many areas. Heavy rain was reported in Sumerpur (Pali) and Samdari (Barmer), while Udaipur recorded light showers in the evening.
What lies ahead: According to Jaipur Meteorological Centre Director Radheshyam Sharma, a mild impact of a western disturbance will continue over eastern Rajasthan till May 9. During this period, parts of Bharatpur division may witness cloud cover and isolated storm and rain activity in the afternoon.
Heat to rise again: From May 9, heat conditions are expected to intensify in western districts, with temperatures likely to reach up to 45°C in some areas. Heatwave conditions may prevail in parts of Jaisalmer, Jodhpur and Phalodi.
City-wise weather update:
- Jaipur: Clear skies with sunshine on Tuesday. Maximum temperature was 34.6°C and minimum 22.3°C, with mild winds providing relief.
- Udaipur: Light rain occurred in the evening with strong winds around 6:15 PM. Maximum temperature dropped to 36.1°C and minimum to 20.4°C.
- Sikar: Temperature dropped by around 4 degrees after Monday night rain. Maximum recorded at 33.5°C and minimum at 18.4°C. Heat is expected to rise again.
- Jodhpur: Clear weather with strong sunshine. Maximum temperature was 38°C, though it has dropped by around 6 degrees over two days.
- Kota: Maximum temperature was 36.3°C and minimum 21°C, showing a drop compared to Monday. Strong afternoon sun caused some discomfort.
- Ajmer: Maximum temperature stood at 35°C and minimum at 20.4°C, providing relief from heat.
- Alwar: Maximum temperature recorded at 33.6°C and minimum at 21°C. Rain on Monday night brought relief, with chances of more rain in the next two days.
