Udaipur, August 5: A stakeholder consultation workshop, “Samvad”, was organised at the Udaipur Municipal Corporation meeting hall on Wednesday to discuss the proposed development works under the fifth phase of the Rajasthan Urban Infrastructure Development Project (RUIDP). The workshop was attended by public representatives, government officials, media representatives, and other stakeholders.
Former Deputy Mayor Paras Singhal, Udaipur Development Authority Technical Director Sanjeev Sharma, Municipal Corporation Superintending Engineer Manish Arora, XEN Mahendra Samdhani, former councillors from various wards, media representatives, and officials from the Information and Public Relations Department were present at the programme.
Presentation on Proposed Development Works
RUIDP City In-charge Anil Patidar delivered a detailed presentation on the proposed projects under Phase V, outlining their objectives and the expected benefits for Udaipur. Following the presentation, public representatives and stakeholders shared their suggestions and feedback to ensure the effective implementation of the project.
Participants emphasised the importance of public participation, inter-departmental coordination, and cooperation from local bodies for the successful execution of the proposed works.
Representatives Assure Full Support
Public representatives appreciated the RUIDP initiative for the overall development of Udaipur and assured full cooperation in implementing the project successfully. Various suggestions received during the workshop were discussed for possible inclusion during the implementation phase.
Focus on Sustainable Urban Infrastructure
Officials informed participants that the objective of RUIDP Phase V is to develop modern and sustainable urban infrastructure in rapidly growing cities and surrounding areas. The state government is preparing to launch works worth around Rs. 9,500 crore across 84 cities in Rajasthan under this phase.
The proposed works include wastewater management, sewage treatment and reuse, flood management and drainage, solid waste management, urban mobility, heritage conservation, tourism development, and Command and Control Centres (CCC). These initiatives aim to make cities smarter, safer, environmentally sustainable, and contribute towards the goals of Developed Rajasthan–2047 and Developed India–2047.
Development Projects Worth Rs. 272.32 Crore Planned for Udaipur
Development works worth approximately Rs. 272.32 crore have been proposed for Udaipur under Phase V. These include:
- Rs. 103.09 crore for wastewater management and reuse of treated water.
- Rs. 21.15 crore for flood management and drainage.
- Rs. 29.62 crore for the Command and Control Centre (CCC), heritage conservation, and tourism-related works.
- Rs. 118.47 crore for urban transport and mobility improvement projects.
Once completed, these projects are expected to provide Udaipur residents with improved, safer, and sustainable urban infrastructure.
