UDAIPUR, January 25, 2026 (Udaipur Kiran): Two people lost their lives and two others were injured after a speeding car rammed into a tea stall in the Ambamata area of Udaipur early Sunday morning. The incident occurred around 7 am, shortly after people had gathered at the roadside stall to have tea following morning prayers.

According to eyewitnesses, the car first hit the roadside railing and then crashed into the tea stall with great force. The impact was so severe that the stall was thrown nearly 20 feet away, while the car overturned after travelling around 150 metres.

Abdul Majid (70), a resident of Chhipa Colony, died on the spot, while Mohammad Imran (35) succumbed to his injuries during treatment at Maharana Bhupal Government Hospital. Both victims had come to the stall as part of their daily routine after offering prayers. Two others, identified as stall operator Jeevan and Arjun, were injured in the accident.

Soon after the incident, anger spilled onto the streets as local residents and relatives of the deceased staged a protest by blocking the main road. Traffic remained disrupted for nearly three hours, with slogans raised against the police and administration.

Local residents alleged that a long-standing pothole at the accident spot was a major factor behind the crash. They claimed that repeated written complaints to the authorities had gone unanswered. According to them, the car driver may have lost control while trying to avoid the pothole.

Even after the road blockade was cleared, protests continued at MB Hospital, where a large number of members from the Muslim community and family members gathered. The relatives initially refused to allow post-mortem examinations, demanding ₹25 lakh compensation each and a government job for the family. Mohammad Imran’s wife, Fareen Bano, expressed her anguish, saying her husband was the sole breadwinner and she now faced an uncertain future with two young children.

Following the unrest, Tarachand Jain reached the hospital and held discussions with the families and community members. He assured them that their demands would be conveyed to the government. After this assurance, the families agreed to the post-mortem and the protest was called off.

Ambamata Police Station Officer Mukesh Soni said the car was moving at high speed and first struck the railing before crashing into the stall. Two people were killed in the accident, while two others were injured. The damaged vehicle was removed with the help of a crane, and two youths have been detained in connection with the case.
