South Africa Beat Pakistan by 8 Wickets in Rawalpindi Test, Series Ends 1-1

Rawalpindi, October 23 (Udaipur Kiran)South Africa defeated Pakistan by eight wickets in the second and final Test at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, levelling the two-match series 1-1.

South Africa Beat Pakistan

After losing the first Test in Lahore by 93 runs, South Africa made a strong comeback to square the series, showcasing a dominant all-round performance in the decisive match.

Pakistan’s First Innings: 333 All Out

Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Pakistan posted 333 runs in their first innings.

  • Shan Masood top-scored with 87 runs,

  • Saud Shakeel contributed 66, and

  • Abdullah Shafique added 57.

For South Africa, Keshav Maharaj was the star with the ball, claiming 7 wickets, effectively breaking Pakistan’s batting momentum.

South Africa’s First Innings: 404 Runs

In reply, South Africa took control with a strong total of 404, gaining a vital first-innings lead.

  • Senuran Muthusamy played an unbeaten knock of 89 runs,

  • While Tristan Stubbs added 76 valuable runs.

From Pakistan’s side, Asif Afridi bowled impressively, picking up 6 wickets.

Pakistan’s Collapse in Second Innings

In their second innings, Pakistan’s batting lineup faltered, collapsing to 138 all out.
Captain Babar Azam scored 50 runs off 87 balls, standing out as the lone fighter.

South African spinner Simon Harmer turned the game decisively in his team’s favour with a brilliant six-wicket haul, restricting Pakistan to a modest target.

South Africa’s Chase: Clinical Finish

Chasing just 68 runs for victory, South Africa’s openers provided a solid start.

  • Ryan Rickelton (25 not out) and captain Aiden Markram (42 off 45) added 64 runs for the first wicket in only 11.3 overs.

Despite quick dismissals toward the end, the visitors comfortably reached the target to seal victory.

With this win, South Africa levelled the Test series 1-1, after Pakistan had earlier won the opening match in Lahore.

The two sides will now face each other in a limited-overs series, consisting of three ODIs and three T20Is.
