Udaipur : Unidentified men barged into the excise department’s police station in Kherwada of the district past midnight and torched a car to destroy evidences in a case of illegal liquor seizure. The incident has come as a big shock for the excise as well as police authorities as such a thing had never happened in the area. When the guards at the station saw the car burning, they tried to nab the culprits, however the assailants pelted stones at the cops and fled in the jeep they had come. “ We had seized illegal liquor and seized a car on September 17.
The liquor stock is kept inside the maalkhaana while the car was parked inside our thana. Around 1.30 am, one of our guard saw the car in flames. ” said Bharat Parmar, an officer of the excise department. The guards rushed out and saw few men standing near the burning vehicle. As they tried to go near them, the men hurled stones at the cops and fled. One of the men was identified as Shantilal so of Kamji, resident of Dungarpur, police said. The excise department has lodged a criminal case at the Kherwada police station. The case has been registered under section 143 and 436 of the IPC and we have started the investigation, RatanSingh, SHO Kherwada police station said. Destroying evidences had been the motive behind the act, police said.
