Jaipur, May 2 (Udaipur Kiran): Rajasthan Police is rapidly moving beyond its traditional framework towards a data-driven, digital, and citizen-centric policing system. In this direction, a state-level ‘Smart Policing’ workshop held in Udaipur presented a clear vision for the future, emphasising the integration of technology with human sensitivity.
Addressing the workshop, NCRB Director Alok Ranjan said that advanced systems like CCTNS 2.0 and ICJS 2.0 will make policing fully digital and integrated. He highlighted that data integration and real-time information sharing will significantly strengthen crime control and investigation processes in the coming years.
Director General of Police Rajeev Sharma stated that the real objective of smart policing is not just adopting technology but implementing it effectively at the ground level. He urged officers to prioritise technical efficiency along with sensitivity and accountability towards the public. He added that policing must evolve with changing challenges by balancing technological skills and human values, with the ultimate goal of ensuring quick justice for citizens and creating deterrence among criminals.
The workshop included detailed discussions on modern policing practices, technological innovations, and the effective use of digital resources. Its primary aim was to enhance crime control and public service by integrating traditional policing methods with advanced technology.
During the session, the DGP instructed officers of the Udaipur range to ensure that technological innovations are not limited to files or applications but directly benefit every victim visiting police stations. He encouraged officers to adopt smart policing principles and strengthen their commitment to public service. He also called upon the police force to prepare for future challenges, particularly cybercrime and data-driven policing.
Highlighting innovation, Udaipur Range IG Gaurav Srivastava presented the e-Beat Book app, a digital alternative to the traditional beat book. The app will be available on constables’ mobile phones, making the beat system more transparent, faster, and efficient, while simplifying information exchange.
SOG IG Ajaypal Lamba explained the role of CCTNS in crime control, stating that proper use and analysis of data significantly enhance the police’s ability to track criminals and break their networks.
The workshop strongly emphasised that the coordination of human intelligence and technical skills will form the foundation of effective policing in the future. The state-level event is being seen as a significant step towards modernising policing in Rajasthan.
