Shadab Khan’s Century Secures Pakistan’s ODI Victory Over England
Shadab Khan scored 113 not out, leading Pakistan to a one-wicket victory over England and securing a spot in the tri-series final.

LAHORE, Oct 26: Shadab Khan played a crucial role in Pakistan’s thrilling one-wicket win against England in Lahore, scoring an impressive 113 not out. This performance secured Pakistan’s place in the final of the tri-series.
Pakistan’s path to victory appeared challenging when they found themselves at 154 for nine, needing 88 runs to clinch the game. However, Shadab’s explosive batting turned the match around, leading to a record 89-run partnership for the 10th wicket alongside Haris Rauf, who contributed seven runs.
Shadab hit 13 fours and five sixes, showcasing his ability to find boundaries under pressure. His efforts eclipsed Ben Duckett’s century, which was the backbone of England’s total of 241.
The game saw a series of ups and downs; England, after winning the toss and batting first, lost their first three wickets quickly. Duckett steadied the innings with 105 runs, but the middle and lower order struggled to build on that foundation. They were all out with 20 balls to spare.
The match took a dramatic turn when Shadab was initially given out lbw on 97. After a review revealed an inside edge, he continued to dominate England’s bowling. Celebrations erupted when Rauf hit the winning runs in the 48th over, completing an unexpected comeback.
Match Details
Pakistan’s innings started slowly, with early wickets falling in the power play. Fakhar Zaman and Saim Ayub both fell cheaply, leaving the team in a precarious position. Babar Azam was dismissed shortly after, and at one point, Pakistan was struggling at 31 for three.
Despite a brief recovery from Saad Baig, who scored 32, England’s bowlers kept the pressure on, restricting runs for several overs. Shadab’s late onslaught changed everything. His century was crucial for the win and made history as the highest partnership for the 10th wicket in a successful ODI chase.
As a result of this victory, Pakistan advances to the final of the tri-series. England, however, faces a tough road ahead and must now rely on other matches to determine their fate in the series.
