Speaking at a panel discussion at the Future Investment Initiative (FII) in Riyadh on Wednesday , the Saudi Crown Prince acknowledged that “the crime was painful to all Saudis” and that the killing of journalist Khashoggi was a “heinous crime which cannot be justified”.
He said that the Saudi government is working with the Turkish government to finalize the investigation and bring the perpetrators of the crime to justice. He also underlined that this incident would not be allowed to drive a wedge between Saudi Arabia and Turkey.
The Saudi Press Agency also reported that Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Vice President of the Council of Ministers, and Minister of Defense, made a telephone call to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of the Republic of Turkey.
During the telephone conversation, they discussed the necessary steps to highlight citizen Jamal Khashoggi’s case with joint efforts.
Journalist Jamal Khashoggi is believed to be killed at the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul earlier this month.
