Udaipur : The anti corruption bureau team on Wednesday arrested a lady JEn , secretary of the water shed department and a village sarpanch for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of 43 thousand rupees in Mawasa village of Kota district. ACB officials said that the Junior engineer Preeti Sen was caught red handed taking bribe of 25 thousand rupees while the two other accused had accepted 18 thousand rupees from the complainant who is a contractor. The complainant had undertaken a check dam construction work at the Mawasa water site.
“The trio had demanded money to sanction and release pending payments due to the contractor” VK Singh, IG- ACB informed. The complainant Farooq had approached the ACB team after being pestered by the three accused for the bribe money. “ The contractor had been making rounds at the Mawasa watershed department for quite some time in connection for the release of payments due to him. The JEn demanded 45 thousand rupees and finally the deal was struck for 25 thousand” After verification of the complaint, the acb team led by ASP Chandrasheel Thakur laid a trap and on Tuesday the trio were caught with the bribe money.
“ We found 25 thousand rupees from the JEn while watershed secretary Suresh and Mawasa sarpanch Ramesh had accepted 18 thousand rupees as bribe” Thakur told Udaipur Kiran. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
