Sapta Shakti Command Pays Tribute to Bravehearts with Veterans & Veer Naris Interaction at Churu

Veergati Smarak Dedicated to the Nation in Honour of Fallen Heroes

Churu, Rajasthan | March 26, 2025 – The Sapta Shakti Command of the Indian Army organized a solemn and heartfelt interaction with Veterans and Veer Naris at Churu on Wednesday, in a tribute to the selfless service and supreme sacrifices made by the soldiers and their families. The event was marked by camaraderie, recognition, and emotional reverence for the bravehearts.

Veergati Smarak Inaugurated to Honour Martyrs

A highlight of the day was the dedication of the ‘Veergati Smarak’ – a grand war memorial constructed with the support of Shri Basant Ji Hirawat, Shri Abhay Ji Hirawat, and their family. The Smarak was unveiled by Lieutenant General Manjinder Singh, Army Commander, Sapta Shakti Command, who paid homage to the fallen heroes.

“This Smarak is not just a monument, but a living symbol of sacrifice, valour, and patriotism. It will serve as a source of inspiration for generations to come,” said Lt Gen Manjinder Singh during his address.

With granite walls inscribed with names of martyrs, and illuminated beautifully each evening, the memorial stands as a beacon of courage and peace. The monument has now been opened to the public.

Churu’s Rich Military Legacy Recognized

Churu district has a rich tradition of military service, with nearly 25,000 soldiers having served in the Indian Armed Forces. The region has produced 89 martyrs since World War II, and boasts of distinguished gallantry awards including:

• 1 Maha Vir Chakra

• 1 Military Cross

• 3 Kirti Chakras

• 2 Vir Chakras

• 4 Shaurya Chakras

• 30 Sena/Nau Sena Medals

• 1 Yudh Seva Medal

Veer Naris and Contributors Felicitated

As part of the event, 89 Veer Naris were honoured for their sacrifice. The Hirawat family, key contributors to the construction of the Veergati Smarak, were also felicitated for their support and dedication.

Lt Gen Manjinder Singh reiterated the Army’s commitment to the welfare of veterans and Veer Naris, outlining Sapta Shakti Command’s initiatives such as:

• ESM (Ex-Servicemen) Rallies

• SPARSH outreach programmes

• Veteran Sahayata Kendras

• Rojgar Melas

• Patient Transit Facilities
