Seoul (Udaipur Kiran News): In a groundbreaking advancement for digital health, Samsung has announced that it is developing Left Ventricular Systolic Dysfunction (LVSD) detection and monitoring capabilities for its smartwatches — a world-first innovation in wearable healthcare technology.
LVSD, a serious cardiovascular condition responsible for nearly 50% of all heart failure cases, is more fatal than several cancers. Since early detection is crucial to reduce mortality and hospitalization rates, Samsung’s upcoming feature could become a lifesaving tool for millions.
The company is integrating AI algorithms developed in collaboration with Medical AI, a leading South Korean medical device firm specializing in AI-driven ECG analysis. These algorithms are based on Medical AI’s 12-lead ECG diagnostic model, which is already used in over 100 major hospitals across Korea, serving over 1.2 lakh patients each month.
According to Samsung, this technology will allow early screening of asymptomatic individuals, helping prevent severe outcomes and reducing healthcare costs by enabling timely diagnosis and treatment of heart failure.
In addition, Samsung has also partnered with Hanyang University’s Department of Biomedical Engineering to develop a next-generation EEG (Electroencephalogram) prototype. Unlike traditional EEG systems, this around-the-ear device features a sleek, ergonomic design for real-world, non-lab settings, offering continuous brainwave monitoring with high-quality signal capture from electrodes placed around the ear.

AI-based brainwave analysis capable of identifying participants’ video content preferences with 92.86% accuracy — suggesting future applications in neuromarketing and entertainment.
While no official release dates have been announced, the LVSD detection feature appears to be further along in development and is expected to debut on Samsung’s smartwatches in the near future.
