Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold to Be Produced in Limited Numbers; Market Response to Decide Future Expansion: Report

Seoul, November 8 (Udaipur Kiran) — The much-anticipated Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold, first showcased at APEC 2025, is reportedly set for an extremely limited initial production, with the company focusing on testing consumer response before scaling up manufacturing.

Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold

According to South Korean publication The Elec, Samsung has produced only 20,000 to 30,000 parts for the dual-hinged foldable smartphone, signalling a cautious approach toward its commercial rollout. This conservative move highlights the brand’s intent to control production risks and assess market reception for what is being described as its most complex foldable device yet.

Expands from 6.5-Inch to 10-Inch Display

The Galaxy Z TriFold introduces an innovative dual-hinge folding mechanism, allowing it to transform from a 6.5-inch folded screen into a 10-inch tablet-like display. The design marks a major leap in Samsung’s foldable technology portfolio, differing significantly from rivals such as Huawei’s Mate XT Ultimate.

Exclusive, Experimental, and Expensive

Industry reports suggest the TriFold will be priced around $2,500 (approximately ₹2.22 lakh), positioning it as a premium niche offering. Analysts say this limited release reflects Samsung’s cautious stance on committing large-scale production resources for a technically demanding and expensive product.

Sources within Samsung’s supply chain have revealed that the company has not yet placed follow-up component orders, creating uncertainty among suppliers. A decision on whether to expand production is expected by December 2025.

A Contrast to Galaxy Z Fold 7 Strategy

The restrained rollout stands in stark contrast to the Galaxy Z Fold 7, which saw robust sales earlier this year. Following strong consumer demand, Samsung reportedly ramped up production by 260,000 units in September, reflecting confidence in that model.

The Galaxy Z TriFold, however, appears to be aimed at enthusiasts, collectors, and early adopters, serving more as a proof of concept than a mass-market device. With limited availability expected only in select regions such as South Korea, China, Singapore, Taiwan, and the UAE, it could become one of Samsung’s rarest and most exclusive smartphones.

A Calculated Step Toward Foldable Evolution

Analysts believe Samsung’s strategy underlines its measured approach to next-generation foldables, balancing innovation with commercial prudence. The company seems intent on perfecting its triple-folding technology before pushing for large-scale adoption in the global market.
