The Samsung Galaxy S25 series is expected to launch early next year. Leaks and rumors have been circulating for some time now suggesting that the smartphone might have an asymmetrical design and that the camera and other specifications could be improved. During a recent call, Samsung officials talked about the Galaxy S25 series and introduced the Galaxy S24 as “the world’s first AI phone” while also hinting at possible upgrades.
Samsung Galaxy S25 series upgrade
During Samsung Electronics’ Q2 2024 financial results announcement, Mobile Experience (MX) Corporate Vice President Daniel Araujo talked about the company’s upcoming flagship smartphone series, the Galaxy S25 series. Officials say there will be “premium updates” related to the camera and display at launch.
Araujo added: “We are also preparing the industry’s best APs (application processors) and storage to improve AI performance and deliver an overall superior experience.”
Reports in recent months suggest that the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, expected to be the company’s flagship product, may come with two new image sensors and improved ultra-wide-angle and telephoto camera features. It is speculated that the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s existing ultra-wide sensor will be replaced by a “new version of the 1/2.76-inch JN1 sensor” and the resolution could also be increased to 50MP. The telephoto lens is said to feature a new “1/3-inch ISOCELL” sensor, which may be slightly larger than the existing sensor.
The official also said Samsung will expand the company’s offering of artificial intelligence (AI) services beyond smartphones to ecosystem devices such as smartwatches, TWS earbuds, Galaxy Ring, Galaxy Book tablets and laptops. It is also integrated at the software level such as operating system (OS) and applications.
During the same call, Samsung confirmed the availability of its upcoming mobile chipset, the Exynos 2500. The chipset was developed by Samsung Systems’ Large Scale Integrated Circuits (LSI) division and the company wants to ensure stable supply of its flagships. Samsung did not reveal the name of the device, but the Galaxy S25 series is believed to be one of the smartphones equipped with the chipset, albeit in some regions.
