March 21, 2025 – In a major boost for seamless device connectivity, Samsung Galaxy S25 now officially supports Android’s instant hotspot feature, allowing the device to auto-enable mobile hotspots across compatible gadgets. This marks a shift in Samsung’s stance, as the company previously relied on its proprietary “auto-hotspot” feature.

Instant Hotspot: How It Works
The instant hotspot feature is part of Google’s cross-device services, designed to make switching between Android devices easier. The feature enables automatic internet sharing between devices—for example, if your Chromebook or Pixel Tablet doesn’t have its own data connection, your Galaxy S25 can instantly activate its hotspot for it, without requiring manual setup.
Cross-Platform Integration Gains Ground
Initially exclusive to Google Pixel devices, this cross-device feature suite is now gradually expanding to include third-party OEMs. Samsung Galaxy S25 is the first from the brand to be officially listed on Google’s support page, although users on other One UI 7 devices are also reportedly seeing the feature enabled, indicating that One UI 7 compatibility could be the key enabler across the Galaxy lineup.
However, Galaxy Tab devices are still not listed as supported for this functionality—at least for now.
A Welcome Shift in Ecosystem Collaboration
This development signals a cooperative turn in the Android ecosystem, as Samsung adopts Google’s version of services that once overlapped with its own. Users benefit from streamlined connectivity, especially in setups involving Chromebooks, Pixel devices, or other Android hardware.
With the Galaxy S25 now part of this expanding ecosystem, Android users can look forward to more unified and intelligent cross-device experiences, aligning with Google’s broader vision of frictionless multi-device usage.
