Mumbai, 29 January (Udaipur Kiran): Reliance Foundation has achieved a major milestone through its skilling initiatives by providing employment to over 1.8 lakh youth and skill training to more than 3 lakh individuals across India. The foundation has reached over 12 lakh people so far. The update was shared at the 21st Century Skills Conference held in Mumbai.

The conference brought together government officials, industry representatives, skilling experts and youth to discuss the future of jobs, evolving workplace requirements and ways to prepare young people for employment. During the event, 40 youth from across the country who built successful careers through Reliance Foundation’s skilling programmes were felicitated.
Director of Vocational Education and Training, Maharashtra government, Madhavi Sardeshmukh, said that in today’s job market, practical ability is more important than degrees alone. She emphasised that strong collaboration between the government and private sector is essential to build a future-ready workforce.
Head of Skilling and Employment Programmes at Reliance Foundation, Nupur Behl, said that the country progresses only when youth are equipped with the right skills and access to employment opportunities. She added that the foundation’s focus is on providing not just training, but clear pathways to sustainable careers.
Chief Executive Officer of the National Skill Development Corporation, Arunkumar Pillai, said that collaboration with Reliance Foundation has enabled thousands of young people to gain industry-relevant skills, significantly improving their employability.
Reliance Foundation’s skilling programmes are currently active in 28 states, with a special focus on youth who are outside the formal education, employment or training system. The initiatives emphasise communication, problem-solving, teamwork and emerging technologies. The foundation works closely with colleges, AICTE and NSDC to strengthen the link between education and employment. Through the Reliance Foundation Skilling Academy, youth also have access to easy-to-use digital courses and certification programmes.
The foundation stated that its long-term goal is to empower young people to become self-reliant and prepare them not only for current job opportunities but also for the demands of future workplaces.
