Redmi K80 Series Said to Get Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 SoC, 5,500mAH Battery

Redmi K80 series is expected to launch later this year. Details of the proposed models have appeared online. Earlier, possible nicknames for the phones were indicated. A recent leak reveals some of the specifications of the expected models’ display, chipset and battery. The company has not yet officially announced the lineup. It is expected to be the successor to the Redmi K70 series launched in China in November 2023. The Redmi K80 smartphones are expected to be upgraded from the previous models.

Tipster Smart Pikachu shared in a Weibo post that the Redmi K80 models are expected to come with a 5500mAh battery. An earlier leak from the same source suggested that the upcoming lineup will only include the base Redmi K80 and Redmi K80 Pro models. It is noteworthy that the previous Redmi K70 and Redmi K70 Pro models are equipped with 5000 mAh batteries. According to a new leak, the K80 series is expected to feature larger batteries.

According to the source, the vanilla Redmi K80 will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, while the Redmi K80 Pro may come with the yet-to-be-announced Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset. The older Redmi K70 and K70 Pro models are equipped with SoC Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, respectively.

Redmi K80 models get 2K resolution displays. In comparison, the base variant of the Redmi K70 and Pro phones come with 6.67-inch 2K OLED screens. According to the source, the Redmi K80 series smartphones will have a metal frame and a glass back. The design of these models has not yet appeared on the Internet.

The Redmi K70 series also started with the Redmi K70E model. Based on previous leaks, it is unlikely that there will be an ‘E’ model in the Redmi K80 series, so it is assumed that one of the released models will be the Redmi Note 14.
