Realme will unveil its latest innovation in its unique fast charging technology on August 14, the company announced on Thursday. The preview is scheduled to take place at Realme’s annual 828 Fan Festival in Shenzhen, China from August 13th to 15th. Although no details have been revealed, it is speculated that the announcement is related to 300W fast charging, Realme Global Marketing Director Francis Wang confirmed in June.

According to Realme, it will also introduce four unique innovations that contributed to the development of the latest fast charging technology: charging power, battery technology, converter size and power reduction design. The announcement will take place at Realme’s headquarters and will feature a showcase of technologies the company is developing in areas such as artificial intelligence (AI), performance and imaging, all aimed at improving the smartphone experience.

This development builds on Wong’s previous confirmation of the development of 300W fast charging technology. Rumors say that this smartphone’s battery can be charged to 50% in three minutes and from zero to 100% in just five minutes. The company is currently offering 240W fast charging for the China-only Realme GT Neo 5, which is said to charge the 4,600mAh battery from zero to 50% in 4 minutes and from zero to 100% in 10 minutes.

Notably, Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi had already introduced similar 300W charging technology in February and was able to charge the 4,100mAh battery of a modified Redmi Note 12 Discovery Edition in under five minutes. Dubbed the “second indestructible 300W charger,” the technology has yet to be implemented in mass-market smartphones.

In addition to announcing the latest innovation in its proprietary fast charging technology, Realme is also expected to unveil its latest smartphone, the Realme GT 7 Pro. It has already been confirmed to launch in India by the end of 2024 and could be one of the first devices in the world to feature Qualcomm’s upcoming 4th generation Snapdragon 8 chipset.
