Jaipur, June 23 (Udaipur Kiran) : As the rain subsides in the state, temperatures have started to rise again. Fourteen cities in the state have seen temperatures exceeding 40°C, while nighttime temperatures in five cities have surpassed 30°C. However, light to moderate rain was recorded in around half a dozen cities, including Jaipur, on Sunday. Scattered showers were observed in Jaipur. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy rain in parts of eastern Rajasthan on June 26-27.

According to the Meteorological Department, light to moderate rain with thunderstorms was recorded in some parts of Jodhpur, Bikaner, Udaipur, Bharatpur, and Ajmer divisions on Saturday. The highest rainfall in western Rajasthan was recorded in Fatehgarh, Jaisalmer, with 33 millimeters, while Galiyakot and Dungarpur in eastern Rajasthan recorded 32 millimeters. Pre-monsoon activities are expected to continue in parts of southern and southeastern Rajasthan, including Udaipur, Kota, Jodhpur, and Ajmer divisions in the coming days.
From June 25, there is a likelihood of increased thunderstorm and rain activity in parts of eastern Rajasthan, with heavy rain expected in some areas on June 26-27. In northern and northwestern Rajasthan, including parts of Bikaner, Jaipur, and Bharatpur divisions, rainfall activity is expected to decrease in the next 3-4 days, with temperatures likely to rise by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius.
On Sunday, Jaipur recorded 4.8 millimeters of rain, Chittorgarh 8 millimeters, and Dabok 11.4 millimeters. Continuous rain in the Kota division has led to rising water levels in seasonal rivers.
Jodhpur and Bikaner Record Extreme Temperatures
Jodhpur experienced the hottest day, while Bikaner had the warmest night in the state. Jodhpur recorded a maximum temperature of 43.6°C, and Bikaner recorded a minimum temperature of 31.8°C. Other cities with daytime temperatures exceeding 40°C included Bhilwara, Alwar, Pilani, Sikar, Chittorgarh, Barmer, Phalodi, Bikaner, Churu, Sri Ganganagar, Sangaria, Jalore, and Fatehpur. Nighttime temperatures also surpassed 30°C in Jodhpur, Churu, Dholpur, and Karauli.
Scattered Rain in Jaipur Leads to Waterlogged Streets and Rising Temperatures
Jaipur experienced light to moderate cloud cover since morning. In the afternoon, the weather changed with dark clouds and subsequent showers. The rain was scattered, with some areas remaining dry while others experienced heavy rain, leading to waterlogging on streets and difficulties for motorists. Despite the rain, Jaipur saw a rise in both daytime and nighttime temperatures, with the maximum temperature recorded at 39.2°C and the minimum at 29.6°C. The Meteorological Department forecasts a continued rise in temperatures in Jaipur over the next few days, with a possibility of significant rainfall starting June 25.
