Jaipur, July 7 – The monsoon continues to affect Rajasthan with widespread rainfall reported across the state since early Monday morning. Jaipur and several other districts witnessed steady showers, leading to waterlogging and traffic disruptions in various parts of the capital city.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange Alert for two districts and a Yellow Alert for 22 districts, warning residents to stay cautious over the next few days.
Rainfall Slows Down on Sunday, but Tragedy Strikes
Although the intensity of rain had decreased slightly on Sunday, with partial sunshine observed in Jaipur, Bharatpur, Kota, Ajmer, Udaipur, and Jodhpur divisions—resulting in a temperature rise of 2 to 5°C—intermittent rainfall continued in parts of Bikaner division and Mount Abu (Sirohi district).
A tragic incident occurred in Shri Vijaynagar, Sri Ganganagar, late Saturday night, when heavy rains caused the collapse of two house roofs around 11:30 PM. The accident claimed the life of a 5-year-old child, and five others were injured. Police and ambulance services quickly responded and rushed the injured to the hospital.
Impact on Roads and Transportation
In Namana, Bundi district, about 2 feet of water accumulated on the Shyamu culvert, sweeping a car into the Ghoda Pachhad River. Fortunately, the father-son duo inside the car escaped unharmed. A crane was later used to retrieve the vehicle from the river.
In Suthala village of Rawatbhata (Chittorgarh district), villagers constructed a temporary bridge over the Brahmani River after the original bridge was washed away during the 2024 monsoon. Despite repeated requests, the administration has yet to build a permanent replacement.
Heavy Rain Predicted for Coming Days
According to the Meteorological Center in Jaipur, a cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal is likely to cause heavy rainfall in Jaipur, Bharatpur, and Kota divisions on July 8 and 9. An alert for heavy rainfall across eastern Rajasthan has been issued through July 12.
