Udaipur, April 4, 2025 — In a landmark move aimed at strengthening traditional agricultural practices and empowering rural farmers, the Rajasthan government has announced a new subsidy scheme offering financial assistance of ₹30,000 per pair of bulls used for farming by small and marginal farmers. This initiative, part of the 2025–26 State Budget announcement by Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, targets those who rely on bullock-driven farming due to limited access to modern machinery.

Eligibility and Conditions for the Bull Subsidy Scheme
According to Joint Director of Agriculture (Extension), Sudhir Kumar Verma, the scheme sets clear criteria to ensure it reaches the right beneficiaries. Key eligibility conditions include:
-
The applicant must be a small or marginal farmer.
-
The farmer should own a minimum of two bulls actively used for agricultural activities.
-
Bulls must be between 15 months and 12 years of age and covered under valid livestock insurance.
-
The applicant must possess land ownership documents or a valid Forest Rights Act (FRA) patta in case of tribal areas.
-
A certificate from the Tehsildar confirming the farmer’s category is mandatory.
Fully Online Application Process
To ensure transparency and ease of access, the state has made the entire application process online via the Rajasthan Sathi Portal. Farmers can apply themselves or with help from local e-Mitra centers. Key steps include:
-
Fill out the application form online.
-
Upload a recent photograph of the bull pair.
-
Submit documents including insurance papers, health certificates, and a ₹100 stamp paper affidavit.
-
Upload valid land ownership proof and marginal/small farmer certificate.
-
Submit the application for official scrutiny and approval within 30 days.
Economic Impact on Rural Agriculture
This government subsidy is expected to benefit thousands of farmers who continue to depend on traditional bullock farming. In areas where mechanized farming is still inaccessible or unaffordable, the initiative will ease financial burden and enhance productivity.
Farmers will receive real-time updates via SMS and the online portal regarding the status of their application and subsidy approval. Upon approval, beneficiaries can download and print their sanction letters directly.
A Step Towards Agricultural Resilience
This policy underscores the government’s commitment to inclusive agricultural development and sustainability. By supporting cattle-based agriculture, especially in tribal and remote regions, Rajasthan aims to preserve traditional methods while addressing modern-day challenges of affordability and rural development.
