Jaipur, 14 August (Kiran News) : With the activation of easterly winds, the monsoon resumed across Rajasthan on Thursday. Light to moderate rainfall was recorded in 15 cities, and rainfall activity is likely to increase further in the coming days.
According to the Meteorological Department, rainfall was reported on Thursday in Ajmer, Bhilwara, Alwar, Jaipur, Pilani, Sikar, Dabok, Jaisalmer, Sriganganagar, Sangaria, Karauli, Fatehpur, and Jhunjhunu.
Director of Meteorological Centre Jaipur, Radheshyam Sharma, stated that a low-pressure area has formed over the Bay of Bengal and adjoining regions of southern Odisha and northern Andhra Pradesh. It is expected to move in a west-northwest (WNW) direction in the next 48 hours and intensify into a well-marked low-pressure system.
Due to its impact, rainfall activity is expected to increase in parts of eastern Rajasthan from 15 August and in parts of western Rajasthan from 16 August. Moderate to heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places in southern and southeastern regions including Kota and Udaipur divisions from 15 to 18 August.
Rain activity is also expected in some parts of Jaipur, Bharatpur, Ajmer, Udaipur, and Kota divisions between 15 to 21 August, and in parts of Bikaner and Jodhpur divisions between 16 to 22 August.
On Wednesday, parts of eastern Rajasthan witnessed light to moderate rain, with isolated locations receiving heavy to very heavy rainfall. Weather remained dry in western Rajasthan. The highest rainfall in the state was recorded in Saipau (Dholpur) at 117 mm.
