Jaipur, August 2 (Udaipur Kiran) — The heavy rainfall that began on Wednesday night in Rajasthan continues into Friday. Rain is being reported in several districts including Pali, Bikaner, and Sikar. Due to the ongoing rain, schools in Jaipur and Bikaner have been closed. In Sawai Madhopur, a house has collapsed due to the heavy rainfall.
According to the Meteorological Department, more than four inches (100 mm) of rain fell in several areas including Jaipur, Sawai Madhopur, Churu, Hanumangarh, and Karauli on Thursday. The department has issued a heavy rain alert for eight districts on Friday. Radheyshyam Sharma, Director of the Meteorological Centre in Jaipur, stated that this heavy rainfall is expected to continue until August 5.
An orange alert for extremely heavy rainfall has been issued for Ajmer. A yellow alert for heavy rain has been issued for Baran, Barmar, Churu, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Nagaur, and Pali. On August 3, an orange alert for extremely heavy rain has been issued for Banswara, Baran, Jhalawar, Kota, and Pratapgarh. Heavy rainfall is also expected in Bhilwara, Bundi, Chittorgarh, Dungarpur, and Sawai Madhopur.
On August 4, an orange alert for extremely heavy rain has been issued for Ajmer, Banswara, Baran, Bhilwara, Bundi, Chittorgarh, Dungarpur, Jhalawar, Kota, Pratapgarh, Rajsamand, Sirohi, Tonk, Udaipur, and Pali. Additionally, a yellow alert for heavy rain has been issued for Jaipur, Dausa, Sawai Madhopur, Jalore, Jodhpur, and Nagaur.
On August 5, extremely heavy rainfall is expected in Barmer, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, and Pali, while a yellow alert for heavy rain has been issued for Nagaur, Jalore, Bikaner, Sirohi, Rajsamand, Bhilwara, and Ajmer.
