According to the weather department, rainfall activity is likely to persist on April 5 across at least nine states. Gusty winds are also expected, while hailstorm alerts have been issued for several regions. Back-to-back western disturbances have significantly altered weather patterns in North India, bringing relief from the early summer heat seen in March but causing damage to crops due to unseasonal rain and hail.
Delhi Weather
The national capital witnessed heavy rainfall on Saturday, and strong winds continue to prevail. The IMD has indicated that a second western disturbance may peak on April 7, which could prolong unstable weather conditions. Rainfall activity may continue in Delhi until April 8, although slight relief is expected on April 6. The department has also warned of possible lightning strikes, advising people to avoid unnecessary outdoor movement.
Rajasthan Weather
Several parts of Rajasthan experienced intense hailstorms, with some areas seeing a blanket-like accumulation of hail. On April 5, districts including Jodhpur, Bikaner, Jaipur, Ajmer, Kota, Bharatpur, and Udaipur are likely to witness light rain and winds blowing at speeds of 40–50 kmph. Hailstorm alerts remain in place for some locations. After brief relief on April 5–6, weather conditions may worsen again from April 7.
Uttar Pradesh and Bihar Weather
In Uttar Pradesh, rainfall alerts have been issued for districts such as Jhansi, Jalaun, Muzaffarnagar, and Aligarh, particularly in the western region. Cities like Lucknow, Kanpur, and Hardoi may receive light to moderate rainfall, with wind speeds reaching 30–40 kmph. In Bihar, districts including Rohtas, Gaya, Bhojpur, East Champaran, West Champaran, and Patna are likely to receive rainfall.
Hill States on Alert
Himachal Pradesh districts such as Una, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Kangra, Mandi, Kullu, and Shimla are expected to witness thunderstorms accompanied by rain until April 8. In Jammu and Kashmir, snowfall is likely in higher altitude areas, with cloudy conditions expected on April 5 and 7. Uttarakhand may also see light to moderate rainfall across several districts, including Nainital, Chamoli, Pithoragarh, Rudraprayag, Almora, Udham Singh Nagar, Tehri Garhwal, and Champawat, with chances of heavy rainfall in some areas.
Haryana and Punjab Weather
In Haryana, districts such as Sonipat, Gurugram, Mewat, Karnal, Ambala, Yamunanagar, Mahendragarh, and Charkhi Dadri may experience rain accompanied by strong winds.
In Punjab, rainfall is expected in districts including Chandigarh, Pathankot, and Ropar.
