Rain Forecast in Western Ghats of Tamil Nadu with Possible Fog

Chennai, 30 December. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light to moderate rainfall at isolated places in the Western Ghats and some parts of southern Tamil Nadu on Tuesday.

According to the weather bulletin, an atmospheric circulation is active over the southeastern Arabian Sea near the Kerala coast. Another similar system is present over the southeastern Bay of Bengal, while a third circulation exists over the southern coastal region of Andhra Pradesh and nearby areas.

The combined effect of these systems is expected to cause intermittent rainfall in certain parts of South India.

There is a likelihood of light to moderate rain at one or two places along the districts bordering the Western Ghats and in some parts of southern Tamil Nadu during the day.

The rest of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal are expected to remain mostly dry, although some areas might experience light fog or mist during early morning or late night hours.

The IMD also stated that minimum temperatures in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal are unlikely to change significantly. However, in some locations, the minimum temperature may be 2 to 3 degrees Celsius below normal. Cold conditions are expected to persist during the night and early morning.

The meteorological department has indicated a possibility of light frost or dew formation during late night or early morning hours in the hilly ranges of Nilgiris and Dindigul districts, especially in Kodaikanal. Such conditions are common due to clear skies and low temperatures in higher altitudes.

In Chennai, the weather is expected to be partly cloudy throughout the day, with light fog or mist possible late at night. The maximum temperature is likely to remain around 29 to 30 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is expected between 21 and 22 degrees Celsius.

The weather department has advised residents in both hill and plain areas to stay cautious of changing weather conditions. Farmers and travelers are also urged to keep updated with local weather advisories, as fluctuations in temperature and visibility may affect daily activities.
