New Delhi, July 24: Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi has accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of disrespecting students’ intelligence through a video released at midnight regarding the NEET paper leak controversy.
In a post on X, Gandhi stated, “Prime Minister Modi, our students are demanding the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan. Do not insult their understanding with such midnight videos. Remove Dharmendra Pradhan. Punish those who beat the students. Apologize.”
Gandhi’s comments come as PM Modi announced that the cabinet meeting scheduled for Friday would discuss “tougher actions against the paper leak.”
This intervention by the Congress leader reflects the growing political pressure on the central government over alleged irregularities in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), which has sparked widespread protests across the country.
Opposition parties have repeatedly demanded accountability from the government and called for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
Meanwhile, Abhijit Dipke, leader of the Cockroach Public Party (CJP), expressed relief over Sonam Wangchuk ending his 26-day hunger strike.
Dipke remarked on X, “We are relieved and grateful that Sir Sonam has ended his hunger strike after 26 days. Thank you for your extraordinary courage and sacrifice. Your life is very precious for this country.”
He further stated that the CJP’s peaceful protest at Jantar Mantar will continue until Dharmendra Pradhan resigns.
Earlier, Wangchuk ended his fast at a private hospital in Gurugram, in the presence of Union Ministers J.P. Nadda and Jitendra Singh, senior leaders from Ladakh, doctors, and family members.
Wangchuk’s prolonged hunger strike drew national attention, prompting appeals from all political parties. Sixty-five members of Parliament urged him to end his strike.
