
New Delhi : President Droupadi Murmu has made significant changes by replacing the governors of several states. The President has replaced the Lieutenant Governors of Puducherry and Chandigarh, as well as the Governors of Rajasthan, Telangana, Sikkim, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Meghalaya, Maharashtra, and Manipur. Moreover, the President has accepted the resignation of Banwarilal Purohit as the Governor of Punjab and Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh.
A press release issued late Saturday night from Rashtrapati Bhavan stated that K. Kailashnathan has been appointed the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry from the date he assumes charge of his office.
Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde has been appointed the Governor of Rajasthan, while Jishnu Dev Varma has been appointed the Governor of Telangana. Om Prakash Mathur will be the new Governor of Sikkim, and Santosh Kumar Gangwar will be the new Governor of Jharkhand.
Rameen Deka has been appointed the Governor of Chhattisgarh, while C.H. Vijayashankar will be the Governor of Meghalaya.
C.P. Radhakrishnan, who was holding additional charge of Telangana along with the governorship of Jharkhand, has been appointed the Governor of Maharashtra.
Gulab Chand Kataria, the Governor of Assam, has been appointed the Governor of Punjab and has also been appointed the Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh.
Laxman Prasad Acharya, the Governor of Sikkim, has been appointed the Governor of Assam and has also been given additional charge of the Governor of Manipur.
The press statement issued by Rashtrapati Bhavan stated that the above appointments will come into effect from the date they assume charge of their respective offices.
