Poco F7 Ultra Benchmarked Ahead of Launch: Snapdragon 8 Elite Shows Its Power

With just days to go before the official launch of the Poco F7 series, early benchmarks for the top-tier model — the Poco F7 Ultra — have surfaced, giving tech enthusiasts a sneak peek into what could be Poco’s most powerful phone to date. Scheduled to launch on March 27, the F7 Ultra will debut alongside the Poco F7 Pro, but it’s the Ultra that is making headlines for packing the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset — Qualcomm’s most advanced mobile processor yet.

POCO F7 Pro, F7 Ultra Global and India Launch Date Leaked: Ultra Variant Appears on Geekbench

Snapdragon 8 Elite in the Spotlight

For the first time ever, Poco is using the latest and greatest chipset in its F-series lineup. Previous models relied on slightly older or mid-tier flagship chips — such as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in the F6 Pro or the 8+ Gen 1 in the F5 Pro. But with the Snapdragon 8 Elite, the Poco F7 Ultra is positioned to compete directly with the top dogs in the Android flagship space.

In benchmark tests conducted using the 16GB RAM / 512GB storage variant, the F7 Ultra delivered impressive results. While it didn’t quite top the charts compared to other Snapdragon 8 Elite-powered flagships, it held its ground well — comfortably outperforming phones like the OnePlus 13R (Snapdragon 8 Gen 3), vivo X200 (Dimensity 9400), and Xiaomi 14T (Dimensity 9300+).

Performance Under Pressure: Throttling & Thermal Behavior

During stress testing, the CPU Throttling Test revealed a standard decline in sustained performance, slightly below average in some instances. However, the 3DMark Wildlife Extreme stress test results were more encouraging, suggesting that the F7 Ultra manages GPU-intensive tasks more efficiently over time.

Thermal management appears adequate, but not exceptional — consistent with other premium devices in this price-performance segment. While it may not lead the pack, the F7 Ultra delivers a stable and reliable experience under heavy workloads, which is key for gamers and power users.

How It Compares to the Poco F7 Pro

The Poco F7 Pro will feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, last year’s flagship chip. Both the Pro and Ultra will offer a 12GB RAM / 256GB storage base variant, but the Ultra gets an edge with a 16GB / 512GB upgrade option, while the Pro maxes out at 12GB RAM. This added memory gives the Ultra an advantage in multitasking and heavy-duty usage.

Launch Details and Expectations

The Poco F7 series will officially debut on Thursday, March 27, and the company is expected to highlight both performance and value during the event. Poco fans can look forward to full reviews following the launch, but the early indicators suggest the F7 Ultra could be a serious contender in the upper mid-range and flagship killer categories.
