The Statue of Unity,being built near the Sardar Sarovar dam on the Narmada river, in memory of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
The construction of plinth and pillars of the 182m tall structure is over. The ambitious Statue of Unity, supposed to be the tallest statue in the world.
The construction of the Rs 2,989 crore project began in December 2015.
The Statue of Unity is being built with 5,700 Metric tonne structural steel, 68,000 Metric tonne of concrete and 1,900 MT of bronze.

Memorials, museums and research centres were built where the statue is installed.
