These expressways will play an important role in boosting infrastructure in the country.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will open the first phase of the Delhi-Meerut Expressway stretching from Nizamuddin Bridge in Delhi to Delhi UP Border on Sunday morning.
He will travel in an open jeep on this expressway for around six kilometre, as part of his road show for the nine kilometre stretch.
The six lane expressway will provide a major relief to the commuters.
On the completion of the entire expressway, the time to travel from Delhi to Meerut will reduce to 45 minutes from the present about four to five hours.
Later in the day, the Prime Minister will also inaugurate the country’s first smart and green highway, the Eastern Peripheral Expressway at Baghpat in Uttar Pradesh.
The 135-kilometre six-lane access-controlled expressway is eco-friendly and has world-class safety features.
