New Delhi, July 24: Prime Minister Narendra Modi released a video message late Thursday night, assuring the youth and the general public that the government is committed to taking strict action regarding the paper leak issue. A draft related to this matter will be presented in the Cabinet meeting scheduled for Friday.
PM Modi acknowledged that the paper leak is not a trivial matter, causing significant distress to millions of students and their parents. He stated that various measures have been taken over the past two and a half months to address the issue, including the arrest of the culprits who are now in jail. He emphasized that the government’s primary responsibility was to ensure that students do not lose a year of their education.
He further mentioned the necessity of conducting immediate examinations, and the government has worked diligently to arrange for the exams of at least 2.2 million students in the shortest possible time. Results were announced just five to six days ago on the 19th, and reports of successful students’ happiness are coming in from across the country. However, he noted that they are not among those who are easily satisfied, which is why he had directed the departments to work hard, leading to the submission of drafts late at night. The Cabinet will discuss the draft, which includes provisions for fast-track courts and stringent punishments.
PM Modi stated that the draft would be finalized after receiving suggestions from Cabinet colleagues. The second week of Parliament begins on Monday, and efforts will be made to pass this bill in the House as soon as possible.
Earlier, PM Modi had posted on the social media platform ‘X’, stating that the welfare and future of the country’s youth are the government’s top priority. Fast-track courts will be established for the swift resolution of cases involving the guilty in all paper leak incidents, and directives have been issued to ensure necessary actions by the relevant departments.
He added that these decisions taken by the government are crucial steps to safeguard the interests of students, and anyone who jeopardizes the future of the youth will not be spared.
