Udaipur, September 21: A message of devotion, sacrifice, service and compassion was conveyed through religious episodes during the ‘Apnon Se Apni Baat’ programme being held at World of Humanity under the guidance of Narayan Seva Sansthan president Prashant Agrawal.
Through stories associated with Bhakt Kurmadas, Parivartini Ekadashi, King Muchukunda and Lakshman-Urmila, Agrawal said true devotion is one that becomes a source of support and hope in someone’s life.
Story of Bhakt Kurmadas
Narrating the story of Bhakt Kurmadas, Agrawal said Kurmadas was born without hands and legs but set out from Paithan to Pandharpur to seek the darshan of Lord Vitthal.
When he reached Laul village and could not travel any further, he sent a message saying that he had made every possible effort and that the remaining journey should now be completed by the Lord.
According to the story, Lord Vitthal himself came to him. Agrawal said the episode shows that in devotion, distance is not important; dedication and effort matter.
Parivartini Ekadashi Gives Message of Change
Referring to Parivartini Ekadashi, Agrawal spoke about Lord Vishnu’s yogic sleep and his turning over.
He said change is necessary in life and people should turn away from anger, bitterness and ego towards love and service.
He said that people who cannot even turn themselves over because of illness or physical disability need the support of others, and serving them is a true expression of compassion.
Message From King Muchukunda’s Story
Through the story of King Muchukunda, Agrawal highlighted the importance of making time for loved ones and society.
Referring to the story of Lakshman and Urmila, he said that behind every Lakshman who remains awake, there is often the unseen sacrifice of an Urmila.
He said many parents even today remain awake day and night for years while caring for children with disabilities. Helping reduce the burden of such families is a responsibility of society.
Agrawal said extending support to those in need, reducing suffering and bringing hope into someone’s life are the true forms of service and devotion.
Beneficiaries with disabilities and their family members were present during the programme.
