Colombo, February 16: Following India’s impressive 61-run victory against Pakistan in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, spectators in Sri Lanka’s capital, Colombo, shared mixed reactions. While Indian supporters celebrated, some Pakistani fans expressed their disappointment.
One emotional Pakistani fan, in tears, remarked, “The match was very disappointing. We lost all three matches during the Asia Cup in Dubai, and now we have lost here as well. Pakistan should have put up a better fight, but they did not show that kind of battle. If we had lost fighting, it wouldn’t have hurt as much. It is painful, but win or lose, I am attached to my team. I come with high hopes, but every time I end up disappointed.”
In contrast, another spectator praised the Indian team’s performance, stating, “India’s performance was outstanding. All the players looked energetic and confident. I believe India will win the World Cup this time. The next match is going to be even more exciting.”
Another fan mentioned that they were confident India would win and that the match turned out to be one-sided. An Indian fan expressed their excitement, saying, “I am very excited. Team India was determined to win this match at any cost. I was sure they would achieve a fantastic victory.”
Indeed, India secured a remarkable win against Pakistan in the 27th match of the T20 World Cup 2026, held at the R. Premadasa Stadium on Sunday. With this victory, Team India has qualified for the ‘Super-8’ stage. Ishan Kishan, who scored a blistering 77 runs, was named ‘Player of the Match.’
After the historic win, Kishan stated, “The India vs Pakistan match is always special, not just for us but for the entire country. Winning against Pakistan will give us tremendous confidence, and we want to carry this momentum forward.”
