Pacific University Student Azeem Tariq Named Captain of Indian Team for Special Olympics Unified Football World Cup 2026

UDAIPUR, July 7, 2026 (Udaipur Kiran) : A student from Udaipur will represent India at the Special Olympics Unified Football World Cup 2026. Azeem Tariq, a B.Tech student of the Pacific Institute of Technology, PAHER University, has been selected as the captain of the Indian men’s football team for the prestigious tournament.

The championship will be held at the Charlety Stadium in Paris, France, where Azeem will lead the Indian team. He was recently presented with the captain’s armband during a farewell ceremony held in New Delhi.

PAHER University Vice Chancellor Hemant Kothari said that Azeem is a final-year B.Tech student in Computer Science and Engineering. Congratulating him, he said that dedication, hard work and self-confidence can help achieve any goal. He added that Azeem has demonstrated how talent, when supported by the right direction and consistent effort, can achieve success on the international stage. He expressed confidence that Azeem would lead the Indian team effectively and bring pride to both the country and the university.

Chairman of the Faculty of Science and Technology, Dilendra Hiran, also congratulated Azeem Tariq and said that through his outstanding sporting performance, discipline and leadership qualities, he has brought recognition to the university as well as Rajasthan at national and international levels. He described the achievement as an inspiration for other students.

Teachers, students and staff members of the university also congratulated Azeem Tariq on this achievement and wished him success in the tournament and a bright future ahead.
