Over 600 PM SHRI Schools in Rajasthan Focus on Quality Enhancement

Udaipur: Rajasthan is home to 639 PM schools, part of a nationwide network of over 13,000 schools dedicated to implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 through innovative initiatives aimed at improving educational quality. In the Udaipur Lok Sabha constituency, which includes the districts of Udaipur, Dungarpur, Salumber, and Pratapgarh, 58 PM schools are operational. More than Rs 6 crore has been spent in the financial year 2025-26 for their development.

This information was shared in Parliament by Union State Minister for Education, Jayant Chaudhary, in response to questions raised by MP Dr. Mannalal Rawat. The minister detailed that there are 22 PM schools in Udaipur, 8 in Salumber, 14 each in Dungarpur and Pratapgarh districts.

MP Dr. Rawat inquired about the progress of school upgrades, capacity building measures, approved funding, the number of beneficiary schools, monitoring of quality standards, and specific details about the PM schools in the aforementioned districts under the NEP 2020 framework.

Responding to these queries, the State Minister explained that the PM scheme equips schools with modern facilities including computer and ICT labs, smart classrooms, well-furnished libraries with internet access, vocational skill education, career guidance, fully equipped integrated science laboratories covering physics, chemistry, and biology, sports facilities with playgrounds, school innovation councils, youth clubs under Mission Life, eco clubs, child-friendly features for primary students, “magic trunks,” bag-free days for students, child attendance monitoring through tracking software, fully functional handwashing stations and toilets, and green school features.

The NEP 2020 outlines phased implementation timelines and procedural principles, envisioning full policy execution by the 2030-40 decade, followed by comprehensive reviews. The PM scheme has selected a total of 13,076 schools across 33 states and union territories. Strict measures are in place to ensure timely fulfillment of quality standards in these schools.
