The OnePlus Open Apex Edition will launch in India and globally on August 7, the company announced on Thursday. First of all, OnePlus is bringing a new color to its smartphone. However, the changes may involve more than just looks, and a listing on the official website suggests that this new version may also get an upgrade in terms of RAM and storage. Notably, the OnePlus Open was launched in India in October 2023 with a 16GB RAM + 512GB internal storage configuration.
OnePlus Open Apex Edition
According to a teaser shared by OnePlus on X (formerly Twitter), the OnePlus Open Apex Edition will be available in a new color called Crimson Shade. As the name suggests, it may be a dark red shade inspired by vegetable leather. According to the company, the color is inspired by the company’s signature “Never Settle” red. This new option joins the existing Emerald Dusk and Voyager Black colors of the OnePlus Open.
It doesn’t appear to be a successor to last year’s foldable smartphone, but it could be an upgrade of sorts. It is worth noting that the OnePlus Open 2 will launch in the second quarter of 2025 with the 4th generation Snapdragon 8 chipset.
OnePlus hasn’t mentioned the specifications of the Apex version, but it will likely retain most of the internals of the standard OnePlus Open version. However, there may also be some upgrades. A list of additional configuration options for the Oneplus Open Apex Edition on the brand’s website suggests that it may have more RAM and internal storage.
