Patna, July 26: Senior BJP leader and MP from Patna Sahib, Ravi Shankar Prasad, asserted on Sunday that the NDA is receiving unprecedented support from the public in the Bankipur assembly by-election, predicting a significant victory for BJP candidate Neeraj Kumar Sinha.
During a press conference at the BJP state office, Prasad accused the opposition of making baseless allegations against the Election Commission, administration, and livelihood workers out of desperation. He emphasized that the NDA is firmly positioned in the electoral race, with BJP workers reaching out to every neighborhood and household in Bankipur.
“This seat holds pride for the BJP, as five-time MLA Nitin Nawin has now become the national president of the party and has been entrusted with national responsibilities,” he stated. While acknowledging the opposition’s right to contest elections, he stressed the importance of maintaining political decorum.
Without naming him, Prasad targeted Prashant Kishor, suggesting that questioning the Election Commission, financial power, and administration before the elections reflects desperation. He noted that such language has been heard from some opposition leaders after their electoral defeats in the past.
Prasad condemned the allegations against livelihood workers, stating they undermine the dignity of women in Bihar. He highlighted that the NDA is campaigning on issues of development and good governance, citing projects like the Atal Path, JP Ganga Path, the expansion of Vande Bharat trains, a new terminal at Patna Airport, and the reconstruction of PMCH, asserting that development work in Patna and Bankipur is evident. He expressed confidence that the public would vote for the NDA based on development.
On this occasion, JD(U) chief spokesperson and member of the legislative council Neeraj Kumar questioned the absence of Leader of the Opposition Tejashwi Yadav during the election campaign, stating he should answer to the people of Bihar. He criticized the comments made against livelihood workers, calling it an insult to women from marginalized communities, and also alleged financial irregularities related to people associated with Jan Suraj.
BJP MLC Nawal Kishore Yadav stated that the people of Bankipur will vote on the issues of development, education, and respect for women, rejecting the opposition’s negative propaganda. He claimed that BJP candidate Neeraj Kumar Sinha would achieve a historic victory.
