NCR Air Quality Improves Amid Strong Winds

New Delhi, February 14: The impact of strong winds over the past few days is clearly visible in the National Capital Region (NCR), with significant improvements in air quality. The Air Quality Index (AQI) has shown positive changes, with most areas falling into the yellow (moderate) and orange (poor) zones, providing considerable relief to residents.

According to data, the AQI recorded in various locations includes 253 in Indirapuram, 267 in Loni, 192 in Sanjay Nagar, and 250 in Vasundhara. In Noida, the AQI was 222 in Sector 125, 177 in Sector 62, 192 in Sector 1, and 206 in Sector 116.

Several areas in Delhi also reported AQI levels in the orange zone, with readings of 235 in Alipur, 265 in Anand Vihar, 240 in Ashok Vihar, 244 in Bawana, 205 in Burari Crossing, 225 in Chandni Chowk, 203 on Mathura Road, 209 at Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range, and 207 at DTU. However, Aaya Nagar recorded a more favorable AQI of 153, which falls within the yellow zone (moderate category).

Experts attribute the improvement in AQI to the strong winds, which prevent pollutant particles from lingering in the atmosphere for extended periods. Nevertheless, many areas still have AQI levels around 200, which are not considered completely safe for health.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has reported a continuous rise in maximum temperatures. On February 14, the maximum temperature reached 27 degrees Celsius, with a minimum of 11 degrees. For February 15, a maximum of 27 degrees and a minimum of 13 degrees are expected, while February 16 may see a maximum of 28 degrees and a minimum of 13 degrees Celsius.

Currently, light fog is present in the mornings, with humidity levels recorded between 90 and 40 percent. No weather-related warnings have been issued. The daytime sun is beginning to create a slight warmth, and the increase in afternoon temperatures is diminishing the chill. Meteorologists predict that maximum temperatures may rise further in the coming days, leading to a more pronounced warmth during the day.
