Mumbai, April 27 (Udaipur Kiran) – A coach of the Mumbai–Solapur Vande Bharat Express derailed near Pune railway station on Monday evening. No injuries or casualties have been reported, and all passengers are safe.
According to initial information, the incident occurred when the train was entering the platform area near Pune station. The fourth coach of Train No. 22225, running from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) to Solapur, experienced a trolley derailment around 7:30 pm near a diamond crossing within the station yard.
Railway officials stated that the location is part of the yard where track switching and crossing operations are carried out. As per Central Railway, the derailment was caused by a technical issue. Authorities also noted that track upgrade work had already been proposed for the affected section.
Officials confirmed that no passenger was harmed in the incident and all were safely evacuated. Arrangements were made to shift passengers to another rake for the onward journey. Railway teams reached the spot promptly, brought the situation under control, and began restoration work on the track.
This is reported to be the first such incident involving a Vande Bharat train since the service was introduced in 2019. Despite the train being known for advanced safety systems, the incident led to some disruption in train movement on the Pune route.
