MP Sports Festival Is a Campaign for Social Harmony, Not Just a Sporting Event: Dr Rawat

Udaipur (Udaipur Kiran): Member of Parliament Dr Mannalal Rawat said that the MP Sports Festival is not merely a sports event but a campaign aimed at fostering a sense of social harmony and unity. He said that thousands of people have joined this initiative, helping to promote sportsmanship and collective participation.

Dr Rawat was addressing physical education teachers appointed under the campaign ahead of the third phase of the MP Sports Festival, which begins on Saturday, December 21. The programme was organised at the Girwa Panchayat Samiti auditorium, where senior officials from the Education Department provided training to physical education teachers. Information was also shared about the venues and dates of various sports events to be held during this phase.

Addressing the teachers, Dr Rawat said they play a crucial role in identifying and nurturing sporting talent in schools. He said the concept of the MP Sports Festival was also envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the objective of honing the sports potential of every child, so that India can win more medals at the Olympic level.

In the third phase, separate teams for men and women have been formed for events including lemon-and-spoon race, 100-metre race, 50-metre race for senior citizens, archery, tug of war, badminton, 100-metre relay race, football, volleyball, cricket, and kabaddi. Winners and teams will be awarded cash prizes and trophies on the basis of first, second, and third positions. First prize-winning teams will receive a total cash award of Rs 1,43,300, second prize winners Rs 67,300, while third prize winners will be honoured with trophies.

The third phase competitions will be held at MB Ground, BN College Ground, Khelgaon, Luv Kush Stadium, Fateh School Ground, RCA College, Gandhi Ground, and CTAE sports grounds.

The MP Sports Festival will conclude on December 25 with the final matches of the men’s and women’s cricket teams. The main closing ceremony will be held at Deendayal Upadhyay Auditorium at 11 am.
