Udaipur, May 2 (Udaipur Kiran): Efforts led by Udaipur MP Dr Mannalal Rawat under the Parliamentary Cluster Scheme have started showing positive results, bringing visible happiness among farmers in the region. Under the initiative, 73 farmers were provided moong seeds along with training in cultivation, and their fields now have a ready crop.
The progress came to light during a review meeting of the Devas Parliamentary Cluster held on Saturday at the MP Service Centre located at the District Council premises. Officials from agriculture, horticulture, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Rajeevika, forest, and education departments were present in the meeting.
Agriculture officials informed that earlier, moong seeds were distributed to 73 farmers across 10 villages of the Devas cluster, along with proper training in farming practices. At present, the crop is ready in all these fields, leading to satisfaction among farmers in the area.
During the meeting, MP Dr Rawat directed officials to distribute mini kits of soybean, maize, and moong seeds to 108 farmers across all villages of the parliamentary cluster and to ensure they receive necessary agricultural training. It was also decided to provide papaya and custard apple plants to 20 selected farmers each.
The horticulture department decided to distribute seeds of 10 types of vegetables under a tribal welfare scheme. The forest department discussed plantation of fruit-bearing trees such as chikoo, custard apple, mango, amla, karonda, and mahua on forest land in all 20 villages, along with plans to develop eco-tourism in the Thur valley of Chawand.
The education department decided to provide furniture in government schools across all 20 villages and prepare proposals for toilet construction and roof waterproofing.
Under the Parliamentary Cluster initiative, Dr Mannalal Rawat has selected 20 villages in the Devas region of Udaipur district and 20 villages in Salumber district. The focus is on generating local employment opportunities to reduce migration from the region. Through Rajeevika, training will also be provided to 100 women or girls from each cluster via RSETI.
