Monsoon Showers Heavily in Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal, August 3 (Udaipur Kiran): Madhya Pradesh is experiencing unusually heavy monsoon rains this year. The incessant downpour has flooded rivers, streams, and even roads. Over half of the expected monsoon rainfall for June and July has already been recorded. Due to the heavy rainfall, nine major dams in the state, including Kolar, Tawa, and Bargi, were opened on Friday. Many districts are facing flood-like situations.

The weather department has issued a red alert for extremely heavy rainfall in 12 districts – Sehore, Raisen, Narmadapuram, Narsimhapur, Chhindwara, Seoni, Mandla, Balaghat, Dindori, Anuppur, Sheopur, and Shivpuri. An orange alert for heavy rainfall has been issued for 23 districts, including Bhopal and Jabalpur.

The weather department has stated that a cyclonic circulation has formed over Jharkhand and West Bengal, resulting in a low-pressure area. The monsoon trough is passing through the center of this low-pressure area, directly over Madhya Pradesh. Another trough is active in the east-west direction over these regions. The continuous inflow of moisture-laden south-westerly winds is affecting the state.

Due to this weather system, heavy rainfall has been occurring since late Thursday night and is expected to continue for the next two days. The weather department has issued an alert for this. The system will move further on Saturday, affecting the southern and central parts of the state. Hence, red and orange alerts have been issued for several districts. The entire state is expected to receive heavy rainfall. There is also a possibility of lightning and floods.
