New Delhi, September 4 (Kiran News): Heavy rains continued to batter large parts of North India on Wednesday, disrupting air travel, flooding major cities, and leaving thousands displaced. Here are the latest updates from across states:

Delhi Airport Flights Delayed

🌧️ Delhi-NCR

  • 8:00 AM: Yamuna river level at Old Railway Bridge rises to 207 metres, above the danger mark of 205.33.

  • 10:00 AM: Floodwater enters low-lying areas including Yamuna Bazar, Old Usmanpur, Garhi Mandu, Tibetan Market and Monastery Market.

  • 12:00 Noon: All schools in Delhi remain closed; over 12,000 residents evacuated to safer places.

  • 5:00 PM: Delhi Airport records 340+ flights delayed — 273 departures and 73 arrivals, according to Flightradar24.

🌧️ Uttar Pradesh

  • Ghaziabad: Streets waterlogged with knee-deep flooding, several cars submerged; 7 villages hit, houses submerged up to the first floor.

  • Noida: Two hours of intense rainfall in the afternoon caused daytime darkness. Around 1,000 farmhouses flooded; rescue operations carried out.

  • Mathura: Nearly 900 families affected by floods.

  • Agra: Yamuna river water reaches Taj Mahal boundary walls; several ghats and 8 cremation grounds submerged.

  • 23 districts under flood-like conditions; 1,200+ villages inundated.

  • Mandi (Sundernagar): Two homes destroyed; 7 killed, 4 bodies recovered later.

  • Seasonal rainfall so far: 970.28 mm, which is 104% of normal (800.1 mm).

  • State’s average normal rainfall: 939.8 mm; last year recorded 1,117.6 mm.
